Today sees the completion of a year-long journey to gain Permanent Residency here, in Quebec and, of course, Canada. And the finalizing of one more step along the road to gaining full Citizenship. I am now a legal, permanent resident of Québec and Canada.

I started this blog—in part—to provide myself with not only a timeline of events, but also as an outlet in which to share my journey.

I have to say, it’s been one hell of a ride but, thankfully, this part is now completed and over.

I plan on keeping this blog here for the time being, and to continue sharing posts with you about life here, in Québec—the city and the province—and hope you will continue to stop by and follow along.

Je suis une Quebecker!

Thanks, Norrie. It’s been a slow, steady slog, but I got there in the end. I’m over the moon!

It’s like a marathon, Margot, you have to be prepared to be in it for the long haul, and not give up. Because, in the end, I know I will have earned my citizenship, like so many before me.

  1. Congratulations, Alexandra! It’s been a long journey, but you arrived in style, and I’m very happy for you. Happy trails to you.

Thank you, Kenny. It’s been a really long journey and this last month alone has been the most stressful, but finally, all is well that ends well, to quote Shakespeare. I can now officially call Québec home.
