Day Two: Botanic Gardens

We’re at home, staying cool and hydrated because, at the moment (it’s 5pm in the afternoon) and it is officially 31 degrees out there! When factoring in the humidity (which is extremely high) it feels like 44 — yes, I mean FORTY-FOUR degrees and frying.

Not to be out done by the scarily hot weather, we went out earlier this morning to take a short trip to the University Laval to see the Botanic Gardens. One of my all-time fav places to visit. Being a flower lover, I try to visit the gardens at least once a week. And while I might stay there anywhere between 1 and 4 hours on a normal visit. Today we were there for just under an hour (for health reasons). No one wants to fry in this kind of heat.

This afternoon has been dedicated to reading.

Meanwhile, here’s just a snapshot of some of the beautiful flowers we saw.

  1. Those are absolutely gorgeous, Alex! And I don’t blame you for wanting to beat the heat. It sounds awful. I hope you get some cooler weather soon.

Like many through out North America, the heat is sizzling up into a Heatwave. This is our 3rd consecutive day, and we have more on the way tomorrow. We just make sure we get our early, and come home early. More time for reading too. 😀

  2. I absolutely love those flower pictures! How nice to have a Botanical garden close by!
We’re taking the kids on a two week trip to Ontario and back this summer, and we’re hoping to go to the botanical garden in Montreal. I’ve been to it once before, and can’t wait to go back. Where are the ones in Quebec City (that’s where you are, right?)?

It’s hot down here, too. So rare for the temp to rise above 28 here!

Thanks, Naomi. We are so lucky to have these gardens. They call them the Botanic Gardens, but they are the Universal Laval test gardens, for the botany students. We have a few hectares of trees, lawns and lots of flower beds. It truly is beautiful at any time of the year. Winter included.

Oh, the Montreal Gardens are gorgeous too! I do hope you get to see them, as well as come here one day, too. And yes, I’m in Québec City. I’ve only been to Ottawa once, for a weekend, and didn’t see too much in that time. And would love to go again.

      And where are you, Naomi?

Well, hello there in NS! It’s been 20+ years since I last visited there. I have family living in Dartmouth. 😀 What a small world we live in.

44 degree hot feel factor sounds truly scorching, I am not a fan of both heat and humidity and I sincerely hope it will cool down for you a little.

Those photos are so beautiful! I love flowers. 😊

Yes, Vera, it can get stupidly hot here because of the humidity. They factor that in with the heat and come up with scary numbers that leave you scratching your head! 😜 We always look for some oasis of cool when it gets like this.

Thank, the flowers are gorgeous, I just point and click! 😉
